Designs fit in a 4x4 hoop unless otherwise specified.

The finished designs are slightly under 4" on the largest side.

There are 2 designs that make up each 3D butterfly. The bottom design is about 3-7/8" on the longest side. The top design is about 3-1/8" on the longest side.

Once you stitch out the two parts, you stitch them together (small one on top of large one) either by hand ( just a few stitches ) or with normal sewing machine.

Additional info about sewing out these butterflies...

Hi -

The designs that go together are named the same except for the size indication after the main part number.

For instance these two pieces go together...

ATWCMA0213-3x3
and
ATWCMA0213-4x4

or

ATWCMA0225-3x3
and
ATWCMA0225-4x4

etc.

Each butterfly is made up of a design ending in 4x4 and 3x3. Those are the two parts.

The larger part is about 12,000 stitches. The smaller part is about 11,000 stitches. That is an average stitch count for FSL 3D designs but that is not your normal 10 minute stitch out time you may be used to with normal filled designs. One butterfly may take 30 to 45 minutes for your machine to stitch out both parts.

Sew out both parts for one butterfly then lay the small one on top of the large one and stitch the two together along the center line. ( the body ) Most people would hand stitch that last little bit but you could use a regular sewing machine if you are careful with finger placement.

Have you sewn out FSL before?

When sewing out FSL ( free-standing lace) use the same color bobbin thread as the top thread. For free standing lace hoop one or two layers of fiber water soluble stabilizers making sure it’s taut in the hoop and embroider the design onto the stabilizer. No fabric - just stabilizer!

Remove the stabilizer with the design stitched onto it when the embroidery is complete. Cut away all large pieces of stabilizer. Then submerge the embroidery in plenty of very warm water. Move it around continuously in the water bath to dissolve the remaining stabilizer.

Keep it in the water bath for about 10 minutes then remove it from the warm water and place the design onto a dry flat surface until the thread has thoroughly dried.
